    Default New guy, Boston.

Hello all. New guy from Boston here. I am in my early 30s and started shaving regularly at about 18 when my company put me on a shave test panel. I am sure you can figure out which one.

Since then I have done the ritualistic shave with modern technology maybe twice per week as I have slow beard growth. Last couple years I have been wearing the stubble look shaving down to a 0 on a clipper. Working for the company, I started collecting company history in Gillette double edge razors. I'll post some pictures later on of my modest collection. Then I started buying other antique shaving pieces, such as a Kriss Kross stropper, Rolls Razor, and a straight razor.

Eventually I started shaving with the double edge, and then I got bit with the straight razor curiosity. I started with a dovo shavette and an Art of Shaving straight razor I picked up. I am up to about 8 straight shaves. Never had any significant injuries, or any minor ones, just a couple blood spots on bumps, and one scratch that barely broke the surface. Getting better at it. Straight shaving is my weekend treat, but I still use the Gillette DE or cartridge systems for work days.

Recently picked up a dovo Astrale from SRD honed by the boys. Can't wait to shave with it. At some point need to send in the art of shaving straight to Lynn and have it fixed. The blade is a bit warped and the honing is all over the place.

Hi and welcome. If you didn't have that original straight pro honed and were using the factory edge you will love the new one honed by Lynn. Any questions you have feel free to ask and looking forward to the pictures of your collection.

Welcome, my fellow Bostonian! I am far from being a pro in SR but in the past few years learned a few things and would be happy to share my skills and knowledge.
