Thanked: 0Hello from Mississippi
Hey everyone. My name is Daniel and I am from Mississippi (currently living in Fort Walton Beach FL for the summer while doing an internship). I am completely new to the world of using a straight razor (I don't even have any equipment het, I'm waiting to learn more before I invest). I am actually new to using a razor in general. When I was growing up my dad got me an electric razor to begin with and until last year I only used electric razors. Last year I started using a regular razor and the difference was amazing. But, a few months ago I had my first hot shave at a barber and it completely changed my life.
I'm wanting to start using a straight razor because I want to enjoy the experience of shaving. Right now I feel like I'm just rushing through shaving to get through it and it's a chore. I want to be able to spend time in the morning and enjoy the experience of having a good shave.

Welcome to SRP home of great shaves and acquisition disorders since we love shaving so much. Ask all the questions you can think of, watch all the videos if you can. This is a very helpful group of people.

Welcome to SRP, Daniel! You're definitely at the right place to do your research before plunging into straight razor shaving. Take your time. Pick up quality equipment and the rest will take care of itself. Best of luck to you on your journey!

Hi Danial from SE Washington State!
Welcome to the most friendly, helpful and informative site on the web!!
You will find members here of all different backgrounds, ages and occupations from all corners of the world and all with a quest for more knowledge about using and maintaining a straight razor!
If you take the time to search, 99.9% of your questions can be found in the Library (WIKI) however feel free to ask us about whatever it is that you are wondering about or having a problem with. It does help if you’ve done some research before hand so it narrows the problem down a bit.
Using and maintaining a straight razor is a long strange trip but it's well worth the journey!
Hopefully one of our Florida members is close by and you could get together with them there or maybe someone back home. One on one learning is the best way to go. You will learn more in a few hours than you can in months of reading and watching videos
Enjoy the ride!
Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.
