Thanked: 0Hello from the Sooner State
First off, not a Sooner fan.
I've shaved with my straight razor once, but quickly realized it needs honing. That's how I found this great community. I enjoy the culture and the "zen" focus that it brings. Ive got a lot of questions that I'm sure have been previously answered. Thanks in advance. I'm an RN & Paramedic, so safe shaving!sacrificium | servire | servante

Thanked: 0Thanks everyone! I'm shaving on a budget, so it will be more of a "treat" thing. My razor is a "no-name" in need of honing, but I think it will work nicely.Shooter- I'm in Atoka. My brother is heading up the lumber yard over in Hugo though. If ya do any hog/deer/duck/turkey hunting let me know. Are there any local places for honing? Thanks.

Thanked: 1936Atoka is not too far away at all! I dated a gal from there when I was in college at SOSU back in the late 80's-early 90's. Yep, I love to hog & deer hunt. I actually lost my hunting spot a couple years ago and it hasn't been the same. I had pretty much exclusive access to 1000 acres, but it was sold and I can't beg, borrow or steal access now from that yank. Which lumber yard? Wyricks or T.H. Rogers?
When I say I know a thing or two about razors...I know them from start to finish, literally. I make razors, exclusively shave with them, hone them, and at one time I used to restore them. I've been needing to sit down and hone up a cup full of razors from my rotation as they are all starting to degrade a bit.Southeastern Oklahoma/Northeastern Texas helper.
