Great forum
Hi all. A big kudos and thank you to all who contribute here. I am very impressed at the results of everyone's hard work that keeps this thing going. I am looking forward to SR shaving soon and I see I came to the right place to give me the info and confidence I need to get started. I switched from cartridges to a micro touch one DE about a week ago as a stepping stone to straight razors. I have van der Hagen start up kit and am learning to lather with the shave soap. I have made my own preshave oil and aftershave balm as well. I have been practicing stropping on a piece of leather and a butter knife so I will have good technique when I get my first razor. I am really enjoying the experience thus far and haven't even used a straight razor yet. Hoping to get one soon.

Welcome Briwill99, glad to see someone take the slow, wise and thoughtful approach to straight razor shaving. You miles ahead of other newbies. If you don't find answers in all the material in this forum, just ask, ask and ask. I have yet to find a member that doesn't have an opinion. And in the most part willing to discuss their point of view in a civilized and gentlemanly manner.

Welcome sir to the great area for learning. Not sure if you know, but here: There is going to be a meet up at Kansas City on October 25th and 26th. The exact address is being worked out and as soon as we have it down, we'll let you know. There's going to be some great straight razor folks and honers there and lots of hands on learning. If you're interested in coming out and want to learn how to use a straight razor or want to learn how to hone your razors, let us know." This would be a great place to learn a ton of knowledge and get hands on assistance with most anything. I hope this helps, and if I can help or answer any questions, please feel free to ask.
I am very appreciative of all the knowledge and sharing each and everyone has provided me with. Look forward to future endeavors with many of you.

Welcome to SRP, if you get the chance to meet up with Lynn you will be ahead of the learning curve. I wish I could've done so when I started, but it would've been a 3 day road trip...one way.
