Thanked: 1New addicted SR Member
Good evening everyone,
My name is Matthan, I always wanted to learn to use the straight razor and finally decided to purchase a Boker Tree Brand Brown Canvas Micarta Straight Razor 5/8" Carbon Blade.
So it finally arrived and I stropped it after watching some youtube videos. My shave was not the best, I believe I need to get it honed. Even with the not so great shave I am addicted and want to shave more frequently now.
Does anyone know a good affordable sharpening stone I could use with my straight razor?

welcome to the world of straight razors! i would suggest that you get it professionally honed so that you know what a well honed razor is supposed to feel like. honing is a whole other skill. check the classified section for honemeisters. if you insist on doing it yourself there are lots of options (it takes more than one stone) and again it would be helpful to check out the honing section of the forum.

Matthan, Welcome to SRP.
Ditto on Pixelfixed's advice. Focus on stropping and shaving and leave the honing for later.
