    Default New here from SE Wisc working in Boulder, CO area

    Hello guys,

    My name is Eric Wentorf I live in Racine, WI, but have been in Superior, CO on a work project for a couple years.

    I've been a double edge shaver for many years, love them and have a couple I use every day. Been thinking about the straight razor process for a while and decided to take the plunge. I found a Genco Head Barber at the Mile High Flea Market for $15. Thought I had a photo, but can't find it. I've read a few of the beginner posts, but was anxious, so I stropped it on the back of a leather belt and gave it a try. Felt like an old DE blade So, I think I need a honing and a real strop.

    Any way glad to be here, lots of great info. I look forward to learning much as I go.

    Take care,

    ==>Eric

    Hi Eric,

    Welcome to the forum!!

    Glad you've decided to join. Be sure to look through the library, linked above just below the SRP Logo. Lots of useful info there.

    Genco is a decent razor and reportedly a very good shaver. I think....that Case bought Genco and carried on under the Case name. Red Imp's, etc.. Anyway that's what I read.

    Enjoy the forum, and when you need help, ask away! Lots of help available!!

    Best Regards,

    Howard

    Hi and welcome. Make sure that you send it out for a pro honing and watch a few stropping vids. Gssixgun had a few vids worth watching on YouTube. Good luck

    I haven't experienced it myself. But from what I've heard Glenn (gssixgun) is too notch when it comes to honing up a razor. That meet up with a personal lesson sounds like a very good opportunity

    You will learn more in a few hours than you could have in months of reading and watching videos! Trust me as I speak from experience. I have only made it to one meet and it was one that Glen hosted in Spokane. To be able to watch and then ask him to stop and either explain or show me made such a difference in my honing.

    The main reason that I keep harping to members who are new to post their location is because experienced help may be just down the road/or block! Hands on learning is such a very valuable tool!

    If you see my old friend Mike (mjhammer) give him my regards/he's a great guy
