    Default Another New Newb

    Greetings SRP —

I figured it was time for me to stop lurking and join in the conversation. At this point, I'm probably going to be more on the question side of things than the answer side. I'm not only a Newb to this group but to the SR experience.

In less than 2 weeks I will have climbed, crawled and scratched my way to the top of the hill so I'm thinking that since I've survived the front half of life with a crappy errr I mean quasi fancy disposable and have been pretty loyal to Barbasol it's time to make an adjustment to the finer things in life. I already enjoy a good cigar, a good whiskey and fine craft beer, so this just seems like a great next step. Some may call me lucky since I don't' really need to shave everyday, I don't get a 5 o'clock shadow, if I were to try and grow a full beard i'd be nicknamed patches. I have participated in Moevember in the past and will do so again this coming Moevember with the goal of growing some handlebars — if only temporary. The Mrs loathes it when I try to grow facial hair, but puts up with my needs to try on an occasion. I'd like shaving to become a more of an event than just something that I do. I have had one SR shave in my life and it was just about a year ago at a barber shop and it was an addicting experience. I just need to take the plunge and do it myself and as I look at the start up costs its about equivalent to the cost of a handful of barber shop SR shaves.

So, on that note….Hello I'm Lowball.

    Cheers

Welcome to SRP, Lowball! Good thing you found this site before diving into straight razor shaving. You will avoid so many costly mistakes. Anyway, don't be shy. This is a very welcoming site. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

I've already spent a lot of time and effort referencing your amazing library. Reading up on all the how-to's and what not to-do's. It saved me from almost purchasing a bad razor and left me soaking in more knowledge. As I was about to just leap in and that could have been costly with an inferior SR.

    Thanks again everyone.

    Hello and welcome to SRP.

We love to shave, help where we can and learn from people who know when we can't.

Lowball, why don't you put a pic and break down of your gear?
