Thread: Buckeye on loan to the Hoosier state.......& SR newbie!!!

3 things happened that brought me here. the irony is that they are staggered over DECADES.

1) Had ONE barber shave and it was a horrible experience. guy cut me, lather machine, destroyed my beard and ended up having to shave it off.
That said, the hot towel and the ritual still sticks with me.

2) cigar smoking buddy restores SRs and anything/everything sharp. The stuff he used to show me were drop-dead gorgeous. i don't know about other people, it would be YEARS before i stopped looking at straight razors as things for other people.

3) Just started shaving with DE razors and haven't cut myself (YET), love the ritual, and i especially love the shave and the lack of irritation.

Other than that, at the risk of sounding pretentious, cuban cigar killer, appreciate spirits, crafts beer, cocktails, and ethnic eats.

Well you definitely have my same tastes in "hobbies". I am an avid DE shaver but must warn you this place is a dangerous slippery slope of addiction. My prediction is eventually temptation will get the better of you an you will be using a straight. I know it did me. The thought of using a straight use to make me very nervous. Now I don't know how I ever shaved any other way. Welcome to SRP this place rocks!

As far as straights are concerned, I am here BECAUSE i am about to buy one and i was referred to this forum by someone i trust and respect a great deal.

Welcome to the sight. I am new here too but everyone here has been friendly and helpful. A Cuban cigar and a straight shave in the same day Would be a good combo.
