Hi from Maine!
Hi everyone. This is my first post and I have been straight shaving for about a month now. I have been reading everything I can on this site for about two months and have learned sooooo much. I just had my first three pass shave with my straight today, and I owe not bleeding to death to all the info I have gathered from you all. So I thought it's time for my first post. I am so excited about straight shaving and I tell basically everyone I know, but they all are very uninterested, so I have no one to share and learn from in this new world except you guys. I have converted form using DE's and I have to say that although my shaves are not as close yet as with my Merkur 39C, I am amazed by the lack of irritation the straight provides. My face feels great. So much appreciation to you all and, oh yeh, I had a moose walk in front of my home the other day. Pretty cool.

Thanks guys! My razor is now a month old and I know it could use a touch up more than the canvas/leather stropping. I shave with it 7 days a week. Any thoughts for a guy with 4 kids and tight budget? College is coming........... Thanks in advance.

welcome to SRP, as far as talking to paople about wetshaving you would be suprised, i was when i found out 2 of my coworkers used DE's. I have converted one to straights so far as well as a coworkers boyfriend its great to get people on board. i even talked my wife into letting me get her a DE bought her a starter kit yesterday.

That's good to hear. I do have my wife using a very mild Gillette Tech and she is enjoying it for her legs. She says she won't dare yet for her underarms yet. But she is on her way! I saw a youtube video of a woman shaving her legs with a straight, whew! I'm sure some of my friends will come around. When they act disinterested, who knows what they are really thinking..

Maybe pick up a barber hone or get some CRoX paste on a piece of leather to touch up , could even get a 12k naniwa stone. Or look up in the members and see if you can find a mentor in your area. One on one face time will get you "straight away" good luck. Tc

Welcome to SRP, Kenny! Yes, all your friends will think you're nuts. But that's okay. Just vent your frustrations here. We understand.
