Hey guys, i'm 16 years old and I've been into straight razors since the start of the new year. I've got 4 total straight razors and a nice setup for shaving. I've had this account for a while just to view forums but finally decided to post. By the way my name is Justyn and I'm from Kentucky.

Welcome Justyn. Good decision to start early AND to follow the forum. I hope you have smooth sailing!

Welcome to the forum Justyn. I'd say at this point you are the youngest. I've been mentoring a 17 year old for a number of months now, but he started shaving at 13. We would like to know your routine when you shave to see if we can offer any advice on your procedures. I do hope, tho, that you aren't trying to hone your own razors yet, other than an occasional touch up. Honing a razor is at the opposite end of the poles from honing a knife, no matter what a lot of people in a hurry to conquer everything at once believe. If you've started slow in acquiring knowledge I commend you. Otherwise take the slow and steady route.

I hope you read the wikis and watch the videos and ask, ask, ask any question (no such thing as a stupid question) if you can't find an answer in those areas. We are here to help you on the path of successful straight razor shaving.

I know I'm already addicted. Aside from straight razors, I am also a knife lover. I've entered some applications lately to get a job! This hobby is an expensive one! Parents also chip in a bit to help me out.

Thanks! I've been mentored by my Barber for the most part. His username I believe is Dennis's Barber shop. He has showed me the techniques for honing. If I can find or get a Swaty Barber hone then that's what I'll use for touch ups. I've acquired a lot of knowledge about straights, but I'm still no master. I'll post up a few pictures in a bit of my entire routine. Also I've learned quite a bit from my friend Val ( the gentleman's den), who originally got me started.

if Dennis is mentoring you, you are hooked - hook, line and sinker. Just remember, it isn't worth a life of crime to fund this clean addiction. Save your pennies and tell your folks what you want for your birthday, Christmas, New Years day, Valentine's Day, Ground Hog Day and every holiday that can be celebrated.

As Lynn (our Lord and Honemeister) will say, "Have fun."
