Hello from West Yorkshire, England
Hey folks,
Another newbie to straight razors here. I've had an interest in straight razors for a while now, but never owned one. Anyway I was recently given one as a gift
The razor I was given is a Sweeny Todd replica. I know these are terrible razors but I wont be using it.
SRP seems like a great place to be

Have you any idea what you would like, or if not what sort of budget you have to equip yourself with. Do you have any experience with lather making?
On the bright side, your Sweeny Todd and some newspaper or strip of fabric would make a great stropping practice setup.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Hello from West Yorkshire, England
I have a very limited budget right now, Around £100 for now. Not certain on what to buy, but I have already seen the list of names to avoid.
As for lather making, I have always used shaving brushes and soap combo. So no problems there
I have bought a cheap strop off ebay to practice stropping with the sweeny todd razor. It may not be a very good razor, but its a cracking letter openerLast edited by yorkshiregrump; 08-13-2014 at 06:28 PM. Reason: missed info

Hi and welcome!
The srp classifieds are a great place to start, you can be pretty sure that you will get exactly what you want at a price to suit your budget, and on the off chance you can't find something the guys on the forum are fantastic at steering you towards good vendors.
