Thanked: 0Zdravo from Slovenia
Been a lurker for a while but decided to join up.
I have been thinking about trying straight razor shaving for a while now after switching to DE shaving about a year ago. (What a world of difference from electric).
Recently moved to Europe for work, and walking down the local flea market I notice all these razors for sale. Today I picked up what looks to be a "Thoso" razor marked Solingen-Wald for a few bucks. Razor seems to be in really good shape, minor marking on the steel and it's even sharp. Now all I need to do is figure out how to get it shave-ready and start scraping it against my face!
Anyways, already grateful for the information I've used from the site up until now and looking forward to contributing where I can.

Thanked: 4830Welcome. Your best bet is to get someone else to hone your blades for a while. The edge will last longer and longer the better you get at shaving and stropping. Once you've gotten your save technique down you can decide if you want to hone then or not. Check the classified member services or perhaps you will find a mentor not too far away.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Thanked: 0Yeah, definitely going to get it professionally honed, just not sure where to do so here. Probably going to end up mailing it off.
Anyways, thanks for the greetings!
