True that DE will let you learn the ropes of face prep, lathering and angles...so it is a good way to start the transition.
RE: dovos and SRD, there is another thread here somewhere about the fact that razor manufacturers are way behind sales with their production. Buying at SRD is a great deal, because of 1) the razor you get will have been honed by a master, and 2) you get a 2d honing free, which comes in handy, since most of us dulled our first SRs fairly quickly and that service is worth about $25.
Look at Ralf Aust on SRD as well as Boker and other name brands on Vintage Razors LLC (also honed by Lynn Abrams). There is also Whipped Dog for a starter and the classifieds on SRP.
Good luck. welcome to the journey!Just call me Harold

Thanked: 7Thanks! And yeah, I just jumped on Vintage and they have a better collection "in stock". I think I'm going to order a couple of things from them today (soaps and stuff) and then save up for the Straight Razor purchase.

Thanked: 7Thanks Speed! As much as the Internet can be the bane of knowledge, it's great to find communities like this for random interests. So far it's been a wealth of info and already pointed me in the right directions which is great. Would hate to spend a couple hundred dollars and have no clue what to do or where to start.
