Thanked: 7Newbie from Central Florida
Hi guys, long time lurker finally joined and posting. I ditched cartridges a couple of years ago for DE then started with a shavette in anticipation of a straight razor. I have been looking around at the local antiques as well as whenever we go out of town on day trips hoping to find something but have had zero luck. I had not even seen a razor till this past weekend when we were out of town and driving past this little store I double backed and got lucky.
Not sure what the final verdict will be on this one, the scales are not in good shape with damage near the tang as well as the logo being removed which is visible in the pic. The blade appears to be in good condition though and I am sending it to get professionally honed and possibly restored if it is reasonable.
I'll try to get better pics of it later today and post up. The razor is a Genco Seneca Chief. There were four or five more where I picked this up and I might take the trip out there to check them out and get a better look at them with time.. the wife was rushing me wanting to get to our destination.

Hi and welcome. Genco make good razors and the blade seems in good condition. Pity bout the scales but it doesn't need to be pretty to shave well. Good luck with the transition.
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

OK first of all, Welcome. Second of all I too live in Orlando. Third Genco's are my favorite. Fourth I have been looking for members in the Orlando area to get with.
Now on to what I have to say. That razor, while having an aged look, definitely looks to be in pretty good shape. No visible defects in the blade that I can see from the photo. The scales seem decent, old with a little damage but still very functionable. If you want we can arrange a meet up and I can hone it for you/show you how to hone it and whatever else you want to learn. I am curious as to which antique store you got it from. I have found a few around here that have good deals on razors and stones ($5 natural combo coti, can we say more?). Although the best place I have found for razor deals is in Mt. Dora. A bit of a drive but worth it.
Anyways good luck, hope we can meet up. Not a creepy guy or anything just jealous of all these other guys having meet ups in colorado and other places that are to far for me to go to.

Welcome aboard! Looks like you are off to a good start. Let us know how the journey continues.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

Thanked: 7Shoot me a PM, I would be glad to get in contact with someone local. I have not been to Mt. Dora yet, I picked this one up on a day trip up in North Florida in a little shop on the side of the road that was barely noticeable. Either way, PM me.
I have a few more pics I took of the razor last night, not the best but still not blurry and terrible.

Thanked: 7A few years ago at work they were giving out those things to everyone.. they are hockey puck shaped stress things. We moved to a new office and there was a fire sale of all sorts of crap people had in storage so I grabbed four or five. They are terrible stress balls but great soft foam hockey pucks.
