Thanked: 0hello from Northern Ireland
Hello everyone. Mike here from Bangor, Northern Ireland. Totally new to straight shaving. Just got my razor honed but scared to strop it in case I mess it up. Been using a shavette with DE blade snapped in half. I can shave pretty well with this - hoping it's not too dissimilar to the straight razor. I think there is a lot of advice on this website and I'm glad I found it. I have so many questions!

Hello, Mike. Welcome to SRP!
I believe the differences in using shavettes and straight razors is discussed by Lynn in the following video.

Thanked: 4826Welcome. There are a few threads here on the difference between shavettes and straights. I have never shaved with a shavette so I can't be of much help.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Hello Irish Mike and welcome to the group. I started this journey not too many years ago and I still remember the first time I took my str8 toy face ---thought it was three feet long. I was scared to death. But I got over it and you will also. Good luck my friend and ask as many questions as you need. This is a lot of fun.
