    Default Hello All

    Hello,
Just joined. I've been using a double edge safety (Merkur) razor, and I'm thinking of trying a straight razor. So I thought it would be good to join a forum to learn about razors and relaqted equipment.

    Welcome to SRP.

There is a ton of info in these hallowed halls and a great group of people who are most willing to help a person start the journey. I have a merkur DE (well, it is the wife's razor) that I like. \

The straight, after a learning curve, will give you the most comfortable shave ever.

Thanks for joining and start your reading in the beginner section.

Chopper, ya came to he right place. Do a Mentor a favor and take your time, read the Library, or at least the FAQ. Ask a heck of a lot of questions whenever you don't understand something. Watch the videos. By going slow and dealing with one or two aspects of straight razor shaving at a time you will save yourself a lot of disappointment and grief. To many new to straight razors want to do it all, all at once. Learn to strop, make good lather and shave the different part of your face effectively. DE's don't parallel a straight. And by all means, leave learning to hone a razor till much, much later. Learning to refresh an edge will be the first step several months from now on the road to honing from bevel to shave ready.

Again, welcome to SRP and do ask questions. That way you will get many points of view on a single subject after which you can determine your own path.

You crack me up! I am but your humble servant. Here to enlighten the masses in the way of the Blade. No masses, no hymns, just looking at oneself in the mirror and hope for the best each shave.
