Thanked: 0Hello from the great white north.
Hello everyone. I've been lurking around for a while and figure it was time to introduce myself and post up a few pictures. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada, and I've been interested in straight razors for a few years. I acquired my first ones maybe 10 years ago when I stumbled across them in the basement of a relative's old farm house. Recently I started wondering about restoring and using them, and wound up here, getting some tips and info. I've gotten a lot of useful information so far, and I've been growing my collection as well. Since I found my first razors laying around unused, I figured maybe some other people around the small farming community I grew up in might have some old ones as well. I put up a few posters, and have had some success in getting a few more razors. I have about 12 now, some in need of quite a bit of work.
This Is the first one I found, a Red Imp Wedge. I've done a bit of work to it. It was pretty rust when I found it.
These next two I made a deal on Kijiji for, I think I did pretty good with them, pretty decent shape. the first is a Thomas Turner, and the second is a haddon. It has some nice etching on the blade.
This one is my favorite, A Boker Radium. It is in very nice condition.
This last one is a wester Bros Di-Fi. I picked up two of these through an add I placed for $20 a piece. They are both in very nice shape.
Sorry that the pics aren't that great, I'll try to take some better ones. In addition to the ones in the pictures, I have a genco master cutter, and a genco henreys x, a boker king cutter, a George wolsenholm peerless, and a 5/8 wade and butcher wedge.
I've really enjoyed reading the posts on this forum so far, everyone seems really friendly and helpful. Looking forward to learning more about the razors that I have, so if anyone has any info, I would be happy to hear it.
Thanks,

Welcome to SRP! Looks like you are doing fine as far as starting a solid collection. I am sure some of your Canadian brethren will be here soon to welcome you. Have you started shaving with your razors yet?
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.

Thanked: 3228Welcome to the forum, always room for a stubble jumper here. The boss was born there and we go back fairly regularly to visit relatives. You look like you are off to a good start with your collection too. Any questions be sure to ask.

Thanked: 4828Welcome from the great wet north. There is a ton of info here. Are you shaving with them or just collecting and restoring?
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Hi and welcome. Make sure that you check out the beginner's section in the library. Also when you start shaving get at least one razor pro honed so you know what shave ready really is and have a benchmark for when you are learning to hone. It isn't rocket science but it will take some time to learn to do it properly. Good luck and any questions feel free to ask
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed
