Thanked: 0Hello from the great white north.
Hello everyone. I've been lurking around for a while and figure it was time to introduce myself and post up a few pictures. I live in Saskatchewan, Canada, and I've been interested in straight razors for a few years. I acquired my first ones maybe 10 years ago when I stumbled across them in the basement of a relative's old farm house. Recently I started wondering about restoring and using them, and wound up here, getting some tips and info. I've gotten a lot of useful information so far, and I've been growing my collection as well. Since I found my first razors laying around unused, I figured maybe some other people around the small farming community I grew up in might have some old ones as well. I put up a few posters, and have had some success in getting a few more razors. I have about 12 now, some in need of quite a bit of work.
This Is the first one I found, a Red Imp Wedge. I've done a bit of work to it. It was pretty rust when I found it.
These next two I made a deal on Kijiji for, I think I did pretty good with them, pretty decent shape. the first is a Thomas Turner, and the second is a haddon. It has some nice etching on the blade.
This one is my favorite, A Boker Radium. It is in very nice condition.
This last one is a wester Bros Di-Fi. I picked up two of these through an add I placed for $20 a piece. They are both in very nice shape.
Sorry that the pics aren't that great, I'll try to take some better ones. In addition to the ones in the pictures, I have a genco master cutter, and a genco henreys x, a boker king cutter, a George wolsenholm peerless, and a 5/8 wade and butcher wedge.
I've really enjoyed reading the posts on this forum so far, everyone seems really friendly and helpful. Looking forward to learning more about the razors that I have, so if anyone has any info, I would be happy to hear it.
Thanks,
