Welcome to SRP!
Start by reading the Beginner's Section in the Library. It will help answer a lot of questions. If you have any questions then feel free to ask us.
Pictures of the razors would help identify them. Especially a close up of any maker's marks on them.
The ones with replaceable blades are called shavettes. Some people prefer them over straights. A lot of people start with a shavette and then move on to the straight.
They both work about the same, the angle of contact is higher with a shavette. Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

Hi and welcome. If a proper straight make sure that you get it pro honed before using it. As for identifying the razor as Cris said pics will make a huge difference otherwise just taking pot shots. Posting in the razor forum may yield more results. Good luck

Thanked: 11Hi OZ
Welcome to SRP.I just started straight razor shaving about 6 week ago.It took me about 30 days to be able to do a complete shave with a straight razor. The first weekand a half I just did the sides of my face and finished up with a DE safety razor. It took me about 3 weeks to be comfortable with Across and Against the Grain .It takes time to learn the proper angle and pressure.it took me a while to develop the muscle memory.
Read up on this site and take you time to learn this art .If you try to rush it it may make for a longer learning curve .Feel free to PM me if you have any question.
Good luck with your hobby.
Regards,Mike

Hi Oz, welcome to SRP. I'm assuming you're talking about Shavette blades ? IME they don't shave near as well as a true straight razor pro honed to shave ready. Check out our beginner's guide in the SRP Library. Straight Razor Place Library - Straight Razor Place Library
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
