Hello from New Brunswick Canada
Hello all, what a great forum! My name is Mark, I'm a somewhat beginner knifemaker and have always wanted to make a few straight razors. Before I do that however, I'm going to get a couple nice ones and give them a good look over, and learn how to use one properly. Funny thing is, is I stopped shaving with any sort of blade probably 10 years ago.. I used to get ingrown hairs on my neck so bad from shaving I just grew a beard and just switched to using my clippers for the spots I had to shave haha. But reading through the forum I've learned there is a much better chance of not having this problem with a straight razor, so all the more reason for me to get into this!
Here's a few pictures of some of my first dozen knives I've done, I'll definatly be keeping you guys posted on the razor projects and asking a million questions I'm sure along the way. Thanks for having me!

Thanked: 3225Welcome to the forum. There are a few guys in here that roll their own razors so they should be quite helpful to you for answers to technical stuff. Some nice looking knives you posted. Hope you enjoy the forum.

Welcome to SRP!
Nice knives. I really like the first one.
If you want to make your own straight then definitely check out the workshop section, ask questions, and get ready to spend money on hones. Razors are honed at 12k grit and higher.
For learning how to shave with a straight, check out the Beginner's section in the Library. Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski
