Thanked: 0Greetings from Space Coast Florida
I guess I jumped in with both feet right away. I inherited 2 curious pieces from my Grandfather which has sparked an interest in the world of SR's. I have seen them here and there and always intrigued by the art, craftsmanship and history of some of the classics. I was surprised that there is quite a following of folks and such a wealth of information available.
I'm not the most knowledgeable on Forums and will probably fumble around as I get used to the rules and etiquette of posting. My apologies ahead of time if I post something in the wrong place or click on something accidentally. It looks like a great group of folks gathered here and I'm looking forward to learning more about SRP and about the adventure ahead. Thanks! Harlan P. Cocoa, Florida

Hi and welcome. Best place to start is the beginner's section in the library as most of the basics questions are answered there. Any problems just ask

Thanked: 0Thank you. The hard part is trying to absorb all the info. I never realized Straight Razors were so popular. I'm looking forward to the adventure of restoring the razors and working up the nerve and skill to put blade to face.

Welcome to SRP!
As others have said start in the Library and read the Beginner's section.
I'd recommend that you send them out to be honed and/or restored from one of the vendors in the classifieds on this site. You don't want to start with a dull razor.
If you want to get into restoration then I'd start out with a beater from ebay instead of a family heirloom.
The first shave can be kind of scary. Just take you time, go slow, and only do your cheeks. You will soon get comfortable with putting the blade to skin and wonder why you waited so long to shave with a straight,Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

Hello, and welcome to SRP.
We have no control of what other people do or say to us, but we have control to how we REACT !! GOD BLESS

Hi and welcome, I would suggest reading this thread advocating why it is not a good idea to use heirlooms.

Beyond that I have found everyone to be a pretty easy bunch, act like a gentlemen and there will not be any duelling pistols at noon.A good lather is half the shave.

Hello. Welcome to the Forum. Lots to learn on here. Plenty of nice people too, just like Brevard County.
