Try some different formats of stuff available in your house to see what you like.
Personally I use a kind of bowl my wife made, diameter about 15-17cm, hight maybe 5cm.

So about 5 X 2 inches then
and yes I have used a soup bowl in a noodle bowl to make a basic scuttle.
