Thanked: 2Hello from Colorado
Hello Everyone. Rick here in Colorado Springs. I'm brand new to wet shaving as I've been using an electric on my face for the past 3 decades and a cartridge for the dome for the past 2 decades. I decided to jump into this wet shaving process when I found my Granddad's 1918 J series Gillette DE. I've been using that for the past two weeks. I ordered a GD 800 stainless from Bill T. and just received that last week. I'm still waiting for the stops and a few other goodies. I've ordered and am still watching Lynn Abrams DVD. I can't wait to start shaving with a straight razor. I'm a bit worried as this will start off a new "obsession" (like I need one more). I've been digging around on this forum for the past month as there is a plethora of information to go through. BTW anyone out there shave their dome with a straight? Thanks for letting me be a part of this community.

Welcome to SRP!
There are a good many straight head shavers here.
I'll just assume you have already lost a few hours in the Library, but if not then make sure you check it out.

Hi Rick & welcome to SRP. It sounds like you've already got a head start on wet shaving at least in the process. That is good you got Lynn's dvd, I think it is excellent. I have it & I learned quite a few things from it. I recommend it to any new people out there. If you have any questions, just ask. There are many knowledgable folks here. You might consider getting another straight razor to keep as a spare for when you send one out to be honed, you will have a backup. There's plenty to learn from here so take advantage of it & absorb it like a sponge. I hope you enjoy it here & good luck!
