Thanked: 0Hello from Edmonton, Canada
Hi everyone! I've been lurking this site for about a month and have found lots of helpful information! I thought it was about time I signed up..
I always wanted to try using a straight razor, but never actually followed through with it. I finally own a straight razor now so all I have left to do is get it honed and then I can start!!! I'm really excited to make this transition from the disposable blades I have been using.. going to step my game up big time this year!

Hello and welcome to the Brotherhood.
This is a great place to hone your shaving ability.
Spend time in the library and ask away, you are fortunate to have many straight razor shavers in your area.S.L.A.M.,.......SHAVE LIKE A MAN!!!

Hi & welcome to SRP. Since you have a straight razor, you will most importantly need a strop & will need to learn how to use one as well. You need to strop your razor before & after each use but if you look in the Library, you will learn how to strop your razor. For now you can use an old wide belt if you have one & a butter knife so that you can practice stropping before you spend money on a good one. You can mess a good one up because it is very easy to cut one with a straight razor by accident. We have all done it at one time or another. I have! It will also be to your benefit to have another straight razor so that when you send one out to be honed, you will still have one to shave with. Whatever you do, always make sure you have a firm grip on it so that it doesn't slip from your hands & fall or you don't accidentally bump the faucet with it. Things happen sometimes & that is one thing that happens to some people. It isn't uncommon for something like that to happen so just be careful when you do shave. I know you will like it here, I don't know of anyone that doesn't. Please feel free to ask any questions. Take advantage of all you can in the Library & any video's you watch whether on here or on youtube. Have fun & good luck!
