Thanked: 0Hello from North Carolina
Hello Everyone,
I'm new to SRP as well as to the Art of Straight Razor shaving. I found SRP trying to gain knowledge of Straight Razor Shaving. I'm looking into what Razor to purchase as well as all the necessities I will need with it. Through researching I found 5/8 3" round blades is a good starter. What is everyone's take on this? & What is everyone's thoughts for a good beginner Straight Razor? Any information you can pass along will be very helpful and most appreciated.

Hi and welcome. Any of the site vendors or the classifieds are a good place to look for equipment as they are trusted and supply shave ready razors. Reading in the library will answer most basic questions but is unsure just ask and we will help you out. Good luck

Thanked: 3Welcome! You did the smart thing and found this forum BEFORE you made your purchase. I jumped straight in with The Art of Shaving. I'm not complaining. I received quality products and a decent Thiers Issard razor. But I think I spent about 200 more than I should have. If would have done some more research before I made my purchase, I would have been able to find comparable quality products and the razor for much less. For example, the Thiers Issard razor from TAOS went for $160. The Thiers Issard equivalent would have been the TI 1937, and that goes for about $120.
Anyways, I always get good answers here when I ask. I think you'll like it here. I'm having a blast.

Welcome to Srp...You are probably safer using a round in the begining of your journey , it's less of a stress, if you get my point.

Welcome to SRP from South Carolina!
I'd recommend one of the razor and strop sets from SRD as well. The important thing is to get a razor that is professionally honed.
