Thanked: 0Hello from MB Canada
Hello from Canada everyone! I've been shaving with vintage DE razors for 10 months now. My favourite razor hands down is the 40's style Gilette super speed with a 7 o'clock black, GSB, or Polsilver blade. I have some techs and adjustables, but they just can't beat the SS for me. Somehow I decided I'd like to try a straight razor, must have been YouTube videos I guess. The logical choice for me is high quality vintage, I want a collectible that is capable of a top quality shave. Are there any brands that stand out?

Hello Stovepipe and welcome to SRP.
For me there are too many favorites to pick a brand that stands out.
It's like asking what is your favorite child.
However there are a few basics on which most SRP members will agree.
Like size, your first straight should be between 5/8 - 6/8's width for handling and maneuverability.
Tip should be rounded and not a sharp spike. (for obvious reasons)
Most importantly your new vintage razor needs to be "shave ready".
Might add should be of a respected brand, Dovo, Ralf Aust, Boker, Puma, Ern, Kropp, Bengal, and so on and on and on..........S.L.A.M.,.......SHAVE LIKE A MAN!!!
