Thanks again, everyone! Very good straight razor shave today - number four! Did two passes with the grain plus a third that was across the grain and a couple of spot touchups. No irritation, a couple of small shallow cuts due to inattention/tunnel vision, and a good quality of shave - although not yet as good as I can get with a double-edge safety razor and top-quality blades. In fact, I haven't used a safety razor at all since Wednesday. Most importantly, I did the whole left side of my face left-handed, with confidence, comfort, and control. I'm not good yet, by any stretch of the imagination - but I feel like I've definitely turned a corner!

The specs: pre-wash with Noxema then hot towels, Baume.be shave cream, 5/8 Dovo Special, alum, Nivea post-shave balm, Pinaud Clubman.

Just a quick follow up: I debated wether or not to skip today so my battle damage from my first three shaves could heal up, but decided to do a quick shave anyways. One pass WTG, one pass XTG and a couple of spot touch ups. Getting much closer to SE quality and am much more comfortable with this, especially the left hand. Best part - no blood! Thanks again, everyone!

That's good news! I'm sure things will continue to improve if you keep at it as muscle memory accumulates. It is somewhat of a daunting process at first. Imagine starting with no internet or other support as your mentor.
