Thank you again for the response. Fools can judge fools, that only proves foolishness. I understand that bad manners are unacceptable. I am a Southern Gentleman. Let us all agree that political, regional, race, faith, shoe size, favorite color, being left or right handed, has nothing to do with a great shave.

John;
Welcome to the SRP Forum!
In answer to some of your questions concerning DE; Personally I like Feather and Astra blades. There are a couple of threads currently on SRP, that will give you a good idea of soaps and creams that are not very expensive, but function well.
Here is a link that will help you find other SRP members in your area, just insert your location and hit search now. Note that the user name listing in red is a mentor, if you should need any personal help.
Here is a link to the SRP Library. This will help you with pretty much anything relating to shaving with a straight razor.
Welcome to the world of straight razor shaving!

Thanked: 0Welcome aboard! I second the endorsement for Feather blades - I used them exclusively in my Merkur Heavy Classic and Heavy Slant (34C and 39C, I think?) I found that most of the vendors were more than helpful in answering questions about products before a purchase, and that they wouldn't steer you wrong when you told them you were just starting out...

Hi John & welcome to SRP! There's a wealth of info here to learn so get ready to take it all in. One day you might want to try a straight but from what it sounds like, you are shaving with a DE razor which is nothing wrong wit it. Here's a link to safety razors if you haven't seen it yet:

If you have any questions, just ask on the forum or pm me if you want.
Good luck & great to have you here!
