Hey all. Been lurking for a bit and decided to join the ranks. I am a total noob to straight razors. I have experience with wet shaving using a DE and am looking for something more and I think I want to give SR a shot.
I do not have a SR yet and have been looking around at suggestions. There is so many different things to think about.
I think I am leaning towards Ralf Aust from SRD.
I guess my big questions are on size and point. I think I read on here somewhere that 5/8 and a center point is a good place to start for a beginner?
Is there a big difference between the different types of points? I suppose I just need some insight on the sizes and points and determining my needs.
I have a large head and face so I don't know if that helps??

Welcome aboard,,,,,,,,,
If you have not already, read over these links before you buy anything.
I would not worry about the size of the razor , as much as the point would concern me. I prefer a point that is not a "spike", less chance of a nick for me,,, sometimes I'm in a little too much of a hurry or my mind wanders a little during the shave.

Hi and welcome. A 5/ 8 or 6 / 8 round point is a good place to start and you can't go wrong with a Ralf Aust. Good luck and any questions feel free to ask

Hello, thebigsmooth. Welcome to SRP!
The Aust is a great choice for a current production razor. I have been very pleased with mine.
