Thanked: 1Hi from Toronto
I'm from Toronto and completely new to shaving with a straight razor. I have been shaving with disposable razors my whole life and recently I started thinking about switching to a SR. A few days ago (since I'm about to run out of cartridges, hehe) I decided to take the plunge and after doing a few hours of research I ordered all the things that I think I'll need.
I'm currently waiting for my 5/8" Böker King Cutter to arrive from The Classic Edge. As soon as it get here, I plan to try it. Until then I'll keep watching YouTube videos to try to learn as much as I can. The plan is to take it slowly and only do parts of the shave with the SR until I get comfortable with it. Exactly how slowly depends on how it goes the first few times.
Happy to be here and I'm looking forward to learning from your collective experience.

Hi and welcome to SRP!
Good choice on your first straight razor - I am sure it will serve you well.
As I'm sure you are already finding out, there is a ton of excellent info here. But these are some good points to start:
Beginner's guide to straight razor shaving - Straight Razor Place Library
First straight razor shave - Straight Razor Place Library
Once your razor arrives and you're ready to take the plunge, remember to relax, don't rush, keep your pressure light, and ENJOY! And of course, feel free to ask lots of questions.
Good luck
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 4828Another Canadian from Ontario. There is getting to be quite a bunch out that way. Welcome. Don't strop your new razor before your first shave.
