For restoring a blade always start light . You will find out what is going on with some polish. If you start with an abrasive then you will be restoring from that point back to mirror. You can save all the washers but you will need to get some nickel or brass rod for new pins. You can transfer the brass over also but this is very time consuming, tedious work.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
