Hello from beautiful Central Texas
First off, great site for a newbie! I'm here in beautiful Central Texas and am enjoying a nice evening after work. I recently bought a nice entry level blade (Boker King Cutter). They had me at Solinger...I have a few knives and I've always trusted blades out of FRG and specifically the Solinger area. I had a great time in FRG at the governments expense, in the Augsburg area. A short while ago I got tired of having to spend an exorbitant amount of money for replacement blades. I remember back in the day when my dad only had a safety razor (I wish I still had it) so I decided to convert. All I can say is thank goodness for styptic pencils. My wife thinks I'm crazy for wanting a straight razor now (she only knows the throat cutter), but I'm determined to learn all about using and maintaining my straight razor.
Looking forward to spending some quality time here at SRP.

Thanked: 270Ah, my heritage. My dad was born in Throckmorton. My mom was born in Mingus, and they met, went to school, and married in Breckenridge. However they were in Los Angeles when I was born. When I was a teenager we moved to Louisiana and it was a culture shock for me when they got their Southern accents back and I never developed one. I have been in Louisiana 43 years.
My dad was a confirmed electric razor shaver and that's where my trouble began. I couldn't accept the lousy results so I went to the multiblade razors and canned goo that was just being introduced at the time. By the time I was in my 50s my face was a facial wreck and I had to check into SRP for retro shaving therapy. I have to wonder what dad would think of me now if he saw me using a straight razor. Mom might have fainted when, one month into straight shaving, I sliced my thumb to the tendon switching hands and had four stitches. But I've been using a straight for five years and my face feels so much better than it ever was using the typical department and drug store fare.
