Hello! I just recently became a member to learn all I can about these tools be for I jump in and buy one. I am also a blacksmith, and bladesmithing is my hobby. I hope to bring those skills, and use them to make some of my own razors.

Awesome! Welcome aboard. Sounds like your skills put you in a great position to give as much information as you will likely get from this wonderful site.
I often wondered whether gents who make blades and straight razors use their own product or if they are more like the proverbial shoemaker.
I mean.. gssixgun handles a gojillion blades a year, yet he sports a beard..

Ya but Glen keeps those sides of his face shaved so he can test them ,, but I did ask him about that in the beginning about the beard. But being a mountain man hermit he's required to keep a beard or the locals would burn him at the stake!!!! Tc
