Hello from SE Texas
I joined this forum several months ago, but for whatever reason, I have never posted. I think it is time to change that. I been working on learning straights for a little while now. I actually purchased a Ralf Aust razor and strop from SRD. Unfortunately, with my work responsibilities and little children, I really only have time on weekends to dedicate to straights. During the week, I use a DE. So, it is going a bit slow for me, although I make a WTG pass with my straight and finish up with a DE. I have to really enjoyed learning the new skill, so I will probably start spending more time here than I have. I am on a bit of a hiatus from the straight, as I am working a shutdown at work for the next 6 - 7 weeks, but I should have some time to get some tips from here.

Thanked: 228Welcome to SRP. You have a good start so far. Read as much as you can in the library and watch a lot of videos. Ensure that you have lots of uninterrupted time when you do shave and don't hurry. That is when you get a nick or a cut. Smooth shaves to you.

Glad you're joining in!! I lingered awhile after signing in too.
There are a bunch of members in the Houston area and they have "get togethers" or "meet-ups" fairly often. If you're near there here's a thread to check, on and off, for times and dates.
Get Togethers and Meetings
Need help with anything......ask away! Lots of help available!!
Best Regards,

Hi and welcome. I too started just shaving on weekends. It will take longer but you will get it. You can also try shaving at night mid week to get the extra time to use the straight till you can cut the times back. Good luck and any questions feel free to ask
