Thanked: 0Newbie in North Texas
My ventures into modern("old school") shaving began around July4 last year. I shaved my head and began looking for other shaving options. within a month or so, I invested in some DE razors and began using them on my face while continuing to use the headblade cartridge on my head.I have never had any issues with the carts on my head but the DE has definitely helped with my monthly ingrowns and regular razor bumps on my neck. Recently I have become comfortable/brave enough to try DE on my head, and while not having any issues, I am not entirely comfortable yet; mostly due to lack of time to spend on it. I am ready to give SE a try on my face now. As time allows I will work on both SE on the face and DE on the head, with the ultimate goal of SE everywhere.
I have ordered a razor and strop from whipped dog and am lucky enough to be close enough that I will pick it up next week and meet Larry in person.
I am looking forward to the adventure and learning from everyone here.

Welcome to SRP!
Larry will set you up.
Make sure you check out the beginner's section in the Library. Read, read, and read and ask us any questions that you might have.
If you haven't bought some shaving soap and brush yet, pick that up as well. The canned stuff doesn't have enough cushion for a straight.
And one more thing, SE around here usually means single edge safety razor, SR is straight razor. No big deal though. Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

Thanked: 0Thanks for the welcome and information. I have a brush and have found a cream that works well for me. I've been using a brush and soap since before trying DE. I'm excited to get started!

Hello and welcome to SRP!! Sounds like you have a great start!!
In case you hadn't seen this already:
Head shaving
... "Head Shaving" sub-forum!!
Your journey is similar to mine.... I started out learning SR for my Face/Neck continuing Carts for my Head then later switched to DE for Head Shaving. I've tried SR for my Head but it just does not feel right and I like being able to use both a SR for Face/Neck as well as the DE for Head!!
Enjoy your Journey!!
