Introduction
Hi all.
My name is Neil Sharples, I am 58 and live in a place called Wotton under edge, this is halfway between Gloucester in the north and Bristol to south. I have just got back into straight razor shaving after about 20 yrs. In moving house my shave kit was lost or left somewhere so back to Gillette it was. I was given a new set for my birthday this year, only a cheapie from an outlet called "menkind". To be honest it is a pile of ~~~~. The shaving mug, brush and soaps are great, the strop is fair but the razor is cheap and nasty. To this end I have just purchased a pair of antique razors from eblag. One of them is a George Plum and the other is a sprock.
I am hoping that they are ok and will get them honed professionally I think.
If anyone in the UK knows of a good honer I would be thankful if you would let me know.

Hi, Neils. Welcome to Straight Razor Place.
Your razors look like they will get the job done once you have them honed.

So those look like some great razors and I had a Sprock that was an excellent shaver. At least you know a good razor from a pile of poo.
Welcome. I'm sorry but I'm not qualified to recommend anyone from your side of the pond. You may want to check around site like the classifieds. They may have some people listed in UK that are avid honers. Good luck. What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

Hi and welcome. Neil Miller is in the UK and can be found at the strop shop. Great strops and sure could hone a razor. The classifieds here also would be a good place to start. The razors look in good condition and should be good once honed
My wife calls me......... Can you just use Ed

Thanked: 1081Hi Neil. Welcome to SRP.
As mentioned Neil Miller at the strop-shop.co.uk is a true professional. Steve Dempster at theinvisibleedge.co.uk is also great. Ive used both in the past for honing and recieved my razors honed to perfection. Both also sell all manner of shaving products.

Celtic crusader ( jamie) is just over the border in Wales and provides honing and restoration services. I haven't used him but he gets favorable reviews.

Hi all.
Received my new razors this morning and I have to say I am very pleased with them. They appear to my untrained eye to be in good shape. There are no dings or dents, so for £15 each I am quite happy. They are going away to be honed soon so I will update when I get them back, they may well appear in shave of the day.
I will keep the menrock one as well and as time progresses I will probably use it as a practise razor when I get my own stone/stones.
Again thanks to all for your words.

Welcome, enjoy the ride. Love eBlag. I assume that wasn't a typo, just too fitting.
