Thanked: 0I'm interested in making shaving soap; because, I read that most shaving soaps are just soap with clay in them.
I'm interested in the ingredients to make my own soap better.
I'm infusing some oils with herbs that smell real nice, that I bought for making spiced mead. I made some shaving cream/oil from coconut oil, cocoa butter, and essential oils.
I like the shaving cream for the clean up.
What works best for you guys?

Thanked: 0I have a question... I bought a full set of Arkansas stones and a sued bench strop. I read that ashes sharpen better than paste, but are finer and take longer.
The question, after the Arkansas stones, how many strops on the ashed sued strop will it take to get the razor as sharp as possible?

First question would be what Arkansas stone is your finest and did you lap and prep it properly to get the best results. If so you shouldn't need a strop as it should be shave ready. What ash. Are you talking actual ash or lamp black? It is probably a ymmv deal same as any other paste. Start with 10 and if not satisfied add 10 more etc etc till you find your magic number of laps.
