New guy from Australia visiting France and Italy
Hi all,
I've just started with the straight razor a few months ago and I'm really enjoying it. I'm holidaying in Europe with the wifey and have come across a couple awesome barber shops.
First was in Paris. A place called Planet Rasoir. They had some really nice Thiers Issard razors and cabinets full of Plisson brushes. They had full stock of Martin de Candre soaps as well, which I passed over because I'm only a beginner and they were so expensive. I then did some research when we got back to the apartment and I'm kicking myself that I didn't get some soap. I did come away with a new Thiers Issard razor though.
Lastly we went to Antica Barbieria Colla di Franco Bompieri Barber Shop in Milan. After researching Martin de Candre soap, I came across a lot of praise for Antica Barbieria Colla soap and we saw that the original barber shop was in Milan. I got a tidy up shave and got some ABC soap from there.
We still have a few weeks left in Italy and if anyone knows of any other places like this to visit we would love to check them out.

Hey Mate, welcome to SRP
Everyone raves about Martin de Candre soaps and as far as I know, it's very difficult to get them down here.
If you can afford it, stock up as much as you can !!
There are more than a few forumites based in Brisbane and Queensland,
so you will not have a problem getting your new Thiers-Issard honed if you have to.
Good to have a mentor or a group if you desire that as well.
My Mum lives in Killarney, which is about 40 minutes drive from Warwick and
an hours drive from Toowoomba.
I visit most every Chrissy, so there is a chance to catch up.
Don't forget to introduce yourself in the "Downunder" sub forum !

G'day and welcome to the forum. Love Paris. What a great city. I managed to find some good French straights in the antiques markets that are around Paris. Sorry, can't help you out with any info on Italy.

Welcome to SRP. Enjoy the trip !
The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
