Hi and welcome. If you send it for honing and the scales aren't bent then a little pin adjustment should see it centre properly again and the mark looks like a little polish and it should buff out pretty easy. Looks like it is in fairly decent condition and has been cleaned up nicely. Good luck and any questions feel free to ask

Unfortunately, I reckon it does need some work on it to sort out the scales and that nick - perhaps some cosmetic work on those marks also - which is far beyond my pay grade for now.
It looks like you are familiar with jamie's work, and he does take in razors for restoration. ..........

The Westholme strop has arrived: a simple 'barbers end' hanging strop with latigo and hemp webbing. Now to decide whether to shave with the razor now or send it off first to sort the small nick.

It has come 'shave ready' - the previous owner apparently used the following preparation before sending it to me:

    Naniwa Superstone 3k
    Naniwa Superstone 5k
    Ohishi 8k
    Arkensas natural, CroX and stropping

So, do I have a shave or two before I have the nick sorted or afterwards? Ideas on a postcard...

Ben I would refrain from stropping the razor especially with the small nick as it will mark your new strop.

Welcome to SRP, the nick needs to go. For the seller to say it is shave ready like that raises a red flag straight away. No need to strop it for the first shave once you get it back. Best of luck.

celticcrusader is right Burgundy. He usually is!! You could and probably will damage your lovely new Westholme strop - you won't want to do that. I have one. They are fantastic strops. Think I'd actually cry if I ruined it.

I would be just as worried about your face. What it will do to the strop it will do to your face and will probably leave you cut up

Welcome to the forum. Jamie is a good friend of mine & he has excellent skills in restoring & honing. I won a straight razor for him here in the states but the seller didn't notice the warped scales. I think once Jamie got it, he had them sorted out in about 30 minutes or less. He's a great guy & I'm honored to be one of his friends. I would say that since you are on his side of the pond to send your razor to him if you haven't yet. He'll take good care of you!
