Thanked: 0Good morning starshine, the earth says hello!
Hey all.
Tired of cheap shaving and eager to make the jump to straight razor. Already read through most of the beginning info on here, now trying to sort it all out. Currently looking to buy my first razor and accompanying kit... And away we go!

Welcome ratchet: Just be sure your first razor comes with a "Real Shave Ready Edge". New razors from the manufacture don't have "Real Shave Ready Edges".

Tell us where you live, city/state, and maybe we can help you a bit more. Just click on "settings" at the top right of this screen and edit your profile to include city/state. That way maybe we can find someone in your area to help you out.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

Having purchased 3 razors from Straight Razor Designs, I can advise that they are a great outfit. For your first strop, I would get one of theirs. When, not if, you cut the strop, you can simply order the centerpiece of the strop and attach it to the hardware of your first strop, saving the expense of buying a completely new strop. Or get their modular paddle strop, as you can replace just the leather pieces if they get damaged, and again saving the cost of buying a whole new strop.
