Thanked: 98Hello all , from Oregons High Desert.
Great site you have here, hope to learn and enjoy some time interacting.
I like good steel and enjoy making knives, maybe will try making a razor after learning the geometry.
Have a few old razors that get the job done, learned how to cut myself right away.
Thanks, Dave.

Welcome to SRP FAL. There is a growing number of Oregon members. Nice to see that you know there is difference between a knife and a razor. They can be tricky things to make. There are two razor makers that I know of in Oregon. The first is The Portland Razor Co, portlandrazorco.com and a man in Corvallis, I believe his name is Joe Edison. I'm in Forest Grove, 30 miles west of Portland, so if you are in the area at sometime, let me know. I'll be glad to sit down with you and go over the small points of getting a good straight razor shave and some basics on razor honing. The other Mentor in our state is pinklather. He lives in Scapoose. He was my Mentor and kept me on the straight (pardon the pun) and narrow to getting good shaves. Plus he hones razors to perfection.

Welcome and enjoy. A lot of good and interesting reading here and best of all, the most knowledgable people are on this forum and are always willing to help. I have learned so much in a rather short time and all has been from SRP and it's members. I still have a long way to go in my learning, but the information here is great.
Read and have fun.
