Thanked: 0New member from south of France.
Hello everybody,
my name is Antoine and i come from Lourdes (The famous religious city !).
I'm sorry because i don't speak verry well english,I'll try to do not make too many mistakes.
I discovered a passion for straight razors 3 years ago, when i found a faux-frameback razor in a flea market.
Now, my collection has grown.
I use my razors for shaving ( of course !) and i love to restore old blades.
I'm joining this site for three reasons :
I love too much english razors, and this site is a good place to learn about history of english razors makers.
I like restoration. i hope i can learn new things about that !
and, i'm here because i like the history of straight razors. Sometimes, i buy or i find english razors and i lack information about the maker or the approximate date of manufacture.
finally, i chose to come here because i like exanges around a passion. I will be delighted to share my knowledge about french razors.
I got 24 english razors ( Wade and Butcher, Lund, Rodgers, Brookes and Crookes, John Rawson, Winks and sons, J.Alexandre, Robertson, J.Wigfall, Butlers, Armroyd...).
It's a pleasure to use them. i lake also the traditional razors boxes ( they look like a little black coffin).
The rest of my collection is devoted to french razors, especially from 19th century. ( First Empire razors, Rameau, Ic Vincent, Guerre, Aubril, Pradier, Dumas, Le grelot, Thiers Issard etc...).
Thanks for this fantastic web site.
See you soon on the forum.

Welcome Antoine. Don't worry about speaking English well. If we understand you, you'll get a reply. Besides, a lot of us don't speak it very well either. One thing to keep in mind, the group loves pictures. So we'll be waiting to see some of your collection.

Hello Antoine & welcome to the warmest & friendliest razor forum of all times. It sounds like you have a very nice collection & we would love to see them. If you want some good information on English razor's get the book called Tweedale's Directory of Sheffield Cutlery Manufacterers 1740-2013 by Geoffrey Tweedale. It is a good book & big. It contains a lot of information of Sheffield cutlers back in the day. Some it does not list but most of them are in there. It is very informative. Great to have you here & Good Luck!
