Thread: Hi from Bulgaria

Hi.
My name is Vladimir but my friends call me Oleg for the past 20 years. You can call me by my name, my nickname or by my screen name - whatever is convenient to you.
All my life I hated shaving. I was twice in the army and that was the one thing I hated most - shaving every day or two if I'm lucky enough.
Since I started shaving with a straight razor that changed. I started shaving every day by my own will and actually enjoying it and looking forward to it every day.
Recently I got in my head the idea that every man should know how to shave with a straight razor. So one day I was walking down the street and saw an antique store, walked in and looked around. Found a few straight razors but all of them had chipped blades.... Except one. I bought it for the sum of $4.6 and went home to try and hone it on the honing stone with the size of a matchbox that I got with the razor.
It wasn't the greatest success I had in life
Anyways .... I bought a strop, went to a real barber to touch up a bit the razor and started using it after I watched Lynn's video on YouTube how to shave with
a straight razor
A week later I found in a Bulgarian auction site a razor I liked very much - my Numax Special. I bought it for $17.15 and I'm very happy with it.
So ... That's my straight razor shaving history.
I'm lookin forward to learning new things about it and maybe one day meet some of you guys.

I'm also glad you're enjoying shaving now. It is one of life's simple pleasures to do it right in the traditional way.

Lots of us have had rocky starts, but settled into the routine. My break from my first straight razor lasted 30 years.
