Thanked: 0New from California
Hey guys, I've been wet shaving for about 4 yrs went through the RAD then along with SAD. Never thought I'd transition to straights cuz I thought there was too much maintenance involved. Well I started straight shaving in December and realized that the maintenance is all part of the experience! I enjoy. I am back into RAD as I love all the different types of straights and hoping to find that diamond in the rough one day at an antique shop or flea market. Wanting to start honing so I do not have to send my razors out after rolling them on the strop LOL I purchased a Norton 4/8k a while back but haven't tried it yet. I recently purchase a Shapton pro 12k and dmt d8c. Been reading a lot o.n here and watching all kinds of videos gonna try my hand at it tomorrow. Looking forward to all the questions and answers I will be sharing with all of you here on SRP!! What a wonderful life....!!

Thanked: 634Start with a razor that is not your best until you get the hang of it. If you run into problems don't be afraid to ask for help. The folks on this site are more than happy to share their knowledge. You may ask if there is a mentor in your area to meet with and get some hands on training. Good luck.

Welcome to SRP deadendcruser. Take bouschie's advice & start honing a razor that isn't your best until you get your honing skills down. If you ask for help, you will get plenty of answers too. Just browsw the site, especially the Library where there's plenty of good, useful information in there. Hope you find that diamond in the rough too!
Good luck my friend!

Right on man, your right, it IS all a part of the experience.
You came to the right place and joining the group is a big step the right direction. Like they said its all true, read, ask questions, and enjoy! And definitely start with a beat up razor not your favorite, I made that mistake..“You must unlearn what you have learned.”

Hi and welcome. You have been given great advice. I didn't see a bevel setter in your stones yet. Are you just ggoing to refresh to start? If not you will want a bevel setter and get that right before moving on. Good luck and if you get stuck or any questions feel free to ask
