Thanked: 0Hello
From someone who regarded shaving as a daily chore to a fully committed enthusiast after discovering the straight razor experience.
Been using a straight razor for a few months now with confidence although honing I have yet to master, so will be looking for some advice in the near future.

Thanked: 56Welcome!
I too have made the chore/delight transition. I used to shave once, maybe twice a week. Now it's a pleasurable way to begin my day.

Here, here. Welcome Jr57. Not to worry, the art of honing is a daunting task, but one that can be learned. Continue shaving and master the muscle memory. Honing will come naturally with time.

Glad you joined. Lots o learn from the members and the Library. Based on many, many members experience I would suggest that you put off wanting to learn to hone for as long as possible. Concentrate on developing a good stropping technique and finesse you shaving skills. Can take longer than you think. On average, I would say, waiting about ten months before investigating honing from bevel to shave ready. In the interim investigate learning to upkeep your razor's edge on a barber's hone or a 12k synthetic stone. ANd do ask questions.
