Default New guy from Oklahoma City

Hey, newbie here! I just started using a straight razor this week. It's been a somewhat time consuming practice to learn, and I just yesterday finally got a shave that I deemed acceptable without touch-up from the old DE! Chin area is pretty meh, but I'll keep trying. Lather is picky, left hand is useless, much skill yet to learn.

Anyway, just thought I'd introduce myself here before I start making newb comments on the other sub-forums! Anybody else around here into brewing, old cars, or trombones (to name a few things)? I'll take a wild guess that I'm not the only one around here with more hobbies than my wife would prefer...

Not into brewing, old cars, or trombones but I am a avid Sooners fan!

Hi Sean & welcome to SRP. You'll find a wealth of information here plus many knowledgable members. I hope you have a strop to go with that straight razor you just started using. If not, you must have one & know how to use it. I assume you do have one but if not, you can buy one from different vendors by looking in the Classifieds here at the top of the page & you can also learn to use one by clicking on the Library also at the top of the page. You can practice with a butte knife to keep from cutting up a good strop, something many have done when first starting out. You might check out the Beginners Guide also in the Library. You will find your way around here. Great to have you here.
    Good luck my friend.

Welcome Sean, as a mater of fact I enjoy experimenting with Irish Stouts and Porters. Been a fan since my Navy years. All my cars are old and I hate trombones ! If you have accomplished a acceptable shave within one week you are already ahead of the curve.

Let us know if we can be of service.

Welcome to the forum. It's a very long and steep learning curve, but you are already on it, so enjoy the journey. Good luck.

Think and act and modify as you go, not a steep slope and you've been doing it since learning anything as a babe!

Welcome to SRP! Keep using that left hand. It'll get there and be worth the effort.
