Thanked: 0Hello All
Just found out bout you guys.
I love anything Sharp and Shiny
Coming from the Knife Making and Wood Carving worlds
Lots sharp blades in both, As a kid I was fascinated with Straight Razors
I think it was all those Western Movies I watched also.
Good to be here Looks like I can learn a lot
Think I may wait a bit before I shave with one though

Hi ron & welcome to SRP. You might find the Beginners Guide in the Library section a good start & then go from there. You might want to put your location & you might have someone in your area that can help you out some by mentoring. You can also look here:

Just type in your city or town plus zip & click search.
Great to have you. Any questions, just ask.
Good luck my friend.

Thanked: 56I found that going from a cartridge to a double edged razor made the transition to straights easier. DEs are a bit more forgiving and are more like shaving with a cartridge, so you can focus on brush and lather technique, as well as shaving pressure and angle, without all the extra variables with straights.
