    Default New in Virginia!

    Hello SRP! New member in Virginia. Active Duty military that is not new to shaving, but new to straights; currently a DE shaver that has decided to enjoy the finer shave of a straight. Currently have a Hart 6/8 square point and a fantastically restored Torrey purchased from Wolfpack34 here on SRP. I’m a complete newbie to straights so please forgive any ridiculous questions. I enjoy reading the forums, rarely post, but plan to be a lifelong member.

    Semper Paratus!

    Welcome! Where are you in Virgina? IF you're in the Norfolk area, there are others and a few here in NC! Enjoy you journey, read a lot and watch lots of videos of people doing it right.

    I see you're in the CG, as is my son in NYC.

    Thanks for your service in THE BEST Coast Guard in the world!

    Welcome to SRP!
    There are no ridiculous questions here. Ask away.
    The beginners section in the library covers a whole lot of the basic questions though.

    Welcome to the SRP Forum!

    Here is a link to the SRP Beginners Guide to Straight Shaving. This will help you with the things you need to know before you begin your experience with a straight razor.

    Here is a link to the SRP Library. This will help you with pretty much anything relating to shaving with a straight razor.

    Here is a link that will help you find other SRP members in your area, just insert your location and hit search now. Note that the user name listing in red is a mentor, if you should need any personal help.

    Welcome to the world of straight razor shaving!

    Regards;
    Lex

    Hi Todd & welcome to SRP. Everyone has had good comments to say. The library is the best place to start & go from there. Like others may have mentioned, ask questions & plenty of them. You will get many answers & sometimes many may differ but just use your better judgement & compare to anything you may see in the library. Here's an interesting link you might want to check out:

    You will be ok.
    Good luck my friend.

    Thanks Haroldg48! Love the Coast Guard! 26 years rising up through the enlisted ranks to Chief, on to Warrant Officer, and now getting ready to put on Lieutenant Commander. It has been a great ride!
