Welcome to an older but better way of shaving.
I would highly encourage you to refrain from spending a lot of money right out of the gate and that includes Razors. If you'd like, I'll loan you a beginner level straight razor, just so you can get the feel of using one. They are different than a shavette. PM me and let me know your thoughts.
Secondly, please try to make that Denver Meet. You will find a great bunch of guys and you will learn more in a few hours than you can by reading and watching videos for months. With that said, please start reading the Wiki as then you will have a foundation of which to ask questions from.
I speak from experience. I've only been able to make one meet but I can't tell you how much I learned! It really made a big difference.
This age old art has a huge learning curve, but once semi mastered it is very rewarding.
It's a long strange trip, but well worth the journey.
