Cool to see other blade people in a forum setting like this.
Thanks for letting me hang out and learn.
Having fun with the tools and "software" for shaving.

Welcome! So how long have you been shaving with a straight?

Hi & welcome to SRP. You will find a wealth of information here in the Library. Just go to the Beginners Guide & work your way from there. You might want to read "Your First Straight Razor Shave" find there or on the main page when you click on the SRP logo at the top left. Here's also another one that might interest you:

The knowledge here is endless. If you have any questions just ask.
    Good luck my friend.

I have just started messing with 'em. Have been going nuts with D.E. equipment for a few months now, and while hunting old Gillettes...ended up getting a few straights just because they were so darn cool. First one was a Dovo Shavette, and then some REAL razors...
A German Lafayette Cutlery 6/8 in almost new condition... $12
A German Hoffritz branded 7/8 with some surface rust that cleaned up real well. (But don't know the mfg...) $14
And then Saturday, US made Pyramid 6/8 with ivoroid scales from Geneva Cutlery Corp, with hardly any wear. $14
As a former knife collector, how could I NOT buy these?

NOW... I'm going to have to invest in a 4K/8K Norton stone and diamond plate for hone work...
Always something, huh? I LOVE finding cool blades "in the wild".
    LOL...

Sounds like you are well on your way toward hiding stuff from your wife.

Toss in a 12k stone with other hone purchases.
